Interview with Theo and Kira Wadman of Helios Farms

In Oregon, it is illegal to sell raw cow milk in retail stores, but many people are finding delicious health benefits to restoring traditional raw cow milk to their family meals. We interview Theo and Kira Wadman who run Helios Farms. Helios Farms legally delivers raw milk to herd share owners in Oregon and has the largest community-supported raw milk dairy in Oregon. We talk about the differences between processed milk and raw milk, health benefits, safety considerations, and how to get raw milk in Oregon and other states.

In the second half of the program we will hear from Food Sleuth Radio. Join Food Sleuth Radio host and Registered Dietitian, Melinda Hemmelgarn, for her interview with Joshua Sbicca, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Sociology at Colorado State University and author of Food Justice Now!: Deepening the Roots of Social Struggle. Sbicca explains the differences between food justice and food sovereignty movements, discusses the intersection of immigration, mass incarceration and labor exploitation in our food system, and offers strategies for change.
