This Earth Day was supposed to be the day that Oregon's Clean Energy Jobs bill was signed into law. Instead, while industry groups try to water down the bill, environmental groups are still lobbying Oregon legislators to pass the strongest law possible. They are being urged to pass a bill that includes a quickly declining cap that leads to zero emissions in 2050, makes polluters pay – all major polluters need to be under the cap – no exemptions, and funds a just transition and ensures funds are targeted to those most impacted by climate change.
On this episode of Locus Focus Damon Motz-Storey, with Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, and Pat DeLaquil with 350PDX return to give us an update on the progress that HB 2020 is making on its way to becoming law.
