In the 2021 Oregon Legislative session, criminal justice reform and police accountability are top of mind for many legislators.

To learn more, KBOO's Karen James speaks with Senator Lew Frederick who represents North & Northeast Portland in the Oregon Legislature. Senator Frederick discusses the new 12-member BIPOC caucus and proposed legislation for police accountability and criminal justice reform.  The list of bills introduced during the 2021 legislative session includes reforms to Measure 11 mandatory sentencing laws (HB2002) and allowing prisoners to vote (SB571).
