For International Day of Democracy, we hear from food system leaders about their work on policies to protect farmworker health, how the climate crisis is impacting water and farmers, and the rights of nature. This Food Show episode features:

  • Ira Cuello-Martinez of Pineros Y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN). PCUN is Oregon’s farmworker union and has been pushing the state to protect workers from climate change impacts like extreme heat and wildfire smoke.

  • Karen Lewotsky of Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) discusses how the climate crisis is impacting our water supply and farms in Oregon

  • Marisha Auerbach of Permaculture Rising gives a brief introduction to the rights of nature.
