The Amazon basin and the tri-border region of Brazil, Colombia, and Peru have been particularly hard hit and transformed by the drug war. The Global Initiative on Transnational Organized Crime released a new report on the impact of the drug war in this region entitled Illicit Frontiers: Criminal Governance in the Amazon’s Tri-Border Region. We hear from the lead author, Gabriel Funari, PhD, head of GI-TOC’s Observatory of Illicit Economies in the Amazon Basin.
