On Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2024, at 11.30 a.m. Joseph Gallivan interviews artist Christopher Marley, who will discuss his show Exquisite Creatures Revealed, at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry until Feb 17, 2025.
Marley talks about arranging insects, sea creatures, snakes and birds in aesthetically pleasing patterns that show the complexity of design in nature. He talks about lighting effects such as iridescence and “constructive interference” in the wings of butterflies, his thoughts on matting and framing his photos, and how the Blazers enjoyed the giant wingspan of a huge pelican. From giant crabs to mosaics of colored beetles, the show feels like a bigger, better Paxton Gate.
Special note: I am looking for work as a writer/broadcaster right now.
