Biography, Memoirs, Journals, Diaries.
Sallie is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, although she was raised as a military brat away from the South, living in Germany, New Mexico, Ohio, Japan, and Michigan up to age 16. But every summer, she returned with her family to visit her mother's relatives in New Orleans and her father's family in a small Alabama town. She has lived most of her adult life in Berkeley, CA, and in New Orleans. These days, "home" also includes Portland, Oregon, where she lives most of the time with her husband, Bart McMullan, a retired internal medicine doctor and health care executive, and their two rescue dogs. She has retained her home in the Bay Area and goes there to see her friends whenever possible.
A retired executive herself (she was vice president of human resources and public affairs at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco), she has taught college and high school Spanish and has done medical interpreting for non-profit organizations in Central and South America and the Dominican Republic.
Sallie, a passionate member of the Berkeley Rotary Club, has served on the boards of Berkeley Rotary, Aurora Theatre in Berkeley, and the Oakland-East Bay SPCA. She is an avid reader, a fan of 1950s and 60s rock and roll and folk music, and an enthusiastic traveler. She believes engaging in volunteer activities is the best way to enrich your life and can't envision living without a mutt or two.
