Today's program is a musical tribute to Todd Snider and his fellow Folk Troubadours. The term troubadour originally referred to roving minstrels of the Middle Ages in Europe, but has been applied to contemporary performers who travel widely, busk in the streets, and are compelling storytellers and great songwriters- perhaps best epitomized by Woody Guthrie.
Beaverton native Todd Snider, who died on November 14, was a Folk Music Troubadour by lifestyle and performance style. He was an enthralling story teller and gifted songwriter. His self-professed major influences were Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Buffet, John Prine, and the Texas songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, all of whom are featured in this program, along with contemporary troubadours Madeleine Peyroux, Sierra Ferrell, Noah Zacharin, and local troubadours David Rea, John Craigie, and Dan Weber (now living near Dallas, TX).
