The Occupy Wall Street protests have taken on a variety of tactics since the eviction of many camps over the last several weeks. One of the ways people have tried to draw attention to the issues of Wall Street greed and corruption is through street theatre.
And the New York-based character ‘Reverend Billy’ with the Church of Stop Shopping is one of the most well-known performers in the movement. He’s currently on a nine-city tour, and will arrive in Portland tomorrow for a two-day stop which will include workshops and preaching.
Reverend Billy spoke to KBOO by phone today from the streets of Chicago, where he was on his way to an action to occupy the Bank of America. Reverend Billy will be in Portland tomorrow (Thursday November 8th) to support the Occupy Portland movement. He will be conducting a street theatre workshop from one to three pm at Lucky Labs, and will speak at an open forum Thursday at seven pm at Shemansky Park at Southwest Park and Salmon in Downtown Portland.
