Lynne Stewart in Prisonfor Passing on A Press Release for a Client and Suffers from cancer
Seventy three year old people’s attorney Lynne Stewart is serving a ten year sentence for releasing a press release for her client Shiek Omar Abdel Rahman, and is also suffering from stage four cancer.
Stewart’s husband, fellow civil right’s activist Ralph Poynter, says that Stewart will likely die of cancer if she where she is receiving inadequate medical treatment, and he is on the forefront of demanding Stewart’s compassionate release.
Poynter has been staging vigils for Stewart’s case this week in Washington CD, and will continue the vigils until she is released, or until she dies. For more on the story KBOO’s Jennifer Kemp spoke with Ralph Poynter
