Fair Wage Policy community hearing
Portland has a Fair Wage Policy for workers at companies that contract with the City.  Currently, the wage for janitors, security guards, parking attendants, civic stadium workers and others, is $10.38 per hour.  A community hearing Monday evening, attended by over a hundred low-wage workers and their allies, presented testimonty to representives from Mayor Hales and Commissioner Saltzman, urging the Commissioners to raise the "fair wage" to $15 per hour.  The first speaker is Marty Hart-Landsberg, an economics professor at  Lewis and Clark College, followed by Jamie Partridge, a 15 NOW pdx organizer, then Linda Sporer, a security guard at the City.
