Karuk Tribe Lobbies to Remove Four Dams on Klamath River
Karuk tribal member Molli Jane Myers has worked with the Klamath Justice Coalition for a decade to hammer out an agreement with the electrical utility Pacificorps and California state officials to remove four dams on the Klamath River.
This week the California state water Board moved forward on an environmental assessment of the dam removal, giving advocates a sense of cautious optimism.
The KBOO News spoke with Molli Jane this afternoon about recent victories in her tribe’s effort to reclaim the Klamath river, and what the dam removal could mean for endangered salmon and repair damaged environment.
