On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with Ben West, Tar Sands Campaign Director for ForestEthics in Vancouver, BC, about two proposed pipeline projects which would carry tar sands-derived heavy crude to the Pacific coast. Crossing British Columbia's remote mountainous wilderness and traversing some of the last remaining pristine salmon streams in North America, these proposed pipeline projects are stirring up strong opposition from a powerful coalition of First Nations bands and environmental groups across British Columbia.
As the Tar Sands Campaign Director for ForestEthics Advocacy, Ben West is responsible for organizing strategic campaigns to stop pipeline and tanker proposals and to work towards making better economic alternatives a reality in order to help end our addiction to fossil fuels.
