A new Seymour Hersh piece sheds new light on the decision whether to intervene in Syria's civil war.

When you're a nation with an enormous military apparatus, the problem is that there are always people looking for reasons to use it. In 2013, the United States nearly intervened in the Syrian civil war, but in a strange sequence of events, backed off at the last minute. A new article by Seymour Hersh details the many pressures pushing the United States toward military action in Syria -- a phenomenon that sadly has too many precedents in the postwar era.

Abe and Joe discuss the Hersh piece, discuss the history of American militarism, and take your calls.
