Remembering KBOO Art Focus Host Julie Bernard

KBOO honors the life and work of Julie Bernard, who hosted Art Focus from 1985 until 2008.  We'll hear excerpts from Julie's shows and remembrances from those close to her. Julie died on October 24th, 2015. She would have turned ninety on March 20th. 

Julie developed the Art Focus show into a weekly forum for local visual artists to discuss their work. She also spoke with gallery owners, curators, and international celebrities such as Spalding Grey and Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Julie was able to talk with anyone, from society matrons and patrons of the arts to grassroots activists who used art as a form as protest.
 
Julie was a beloved figure at the station, known for her kindness, curiosity, wit and ability to navigate in very different worlds.
