Something new, something old & some great musicians coming to Portland
This week's program will begin with selections from a great new recording: The Nile Project "Aswan" a collaborative affort featuring musicians from Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Uganda. Then, by listener request, we will check out the sounds of the 70's London-based band Osibisa, whose members hailed from Ghana, Nigeria, Grenada, Antigua, and Trinidad. And in the second hour, spotlights on two great African artists who will be appearing at the Aladdin Theater on Thursday, March 31st : Vusi Mahlasela (South Africa), and Habib Koité (Mali). /// host : Andy Hosch
