FERC's decision to deny the Jordan Cove LNG Facility near Coos Bay
For years, activists and landowners in Southern Oregon have been trying to stop the Jordan Cove LNG Facility. Despite widespread opposition to the terminal and the pipeline required to get fracked natural gas to the export terminal, Jordan Cove lumbered on. But this past Friday, in a surprise move, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) - that usually rubberstamps proposals like Jordan Cove, denied permits for the Pacific Connector Pipeline and Jordan Cove Natural Gas Facility. FERC ruled that the pipeline is not in the public interest. Since the terminal cannot exist without the pipeline, FERC denied the terminal as well.

On this episode of Locus Focus, we talk with Jody McCaffree, executive director of Citizens Against LNG in North Bend, about this huge blow against LNG in Oregon and what it means for other proposed LNG projects that are still being planned in the Northwest.
