On Monday night the Cascade Locks City Council passed a resolution to oppose the upcoming Ballot Measure 14-55 to ban large-scale commercial water bottling plants in Hood River County. They further urged their constituents and all Hood River County residents to vote against the initiative. The Council meeting was long and contentious, with local residents pitted against each other and a sizable contingent of Native Americans, mostly from Warm Springs.
To talk about what happened at the meeting, ongoing organizing against the proposed Nestle bottling plant in Cascade Locks, and rising Indigenous opposition to the project, host Paul Roland speaks with Aurora Del Val of the Local Water Alliance (http://www.localwateralliance.org/) and Orvie Danzuka, a current Warm Springs Tribal Council Member (http://www.warmsprings.com/).
