Discussion with Float On co-founder Christopher Messer, and float advocates Jordan Lamp and Peter Mohr

A buoyant float in a  dark tank of 93º salt water seems to be a sure-fire way to completely relax every muscle in the body, and floaters report benefits ranging from chronic pain relief to heightened states of consciousness.  Six years ago Christopher Messer appeared on KBOO just after he'd started a small float business, Deep Haven, on his own. Ten months later, he co-founded Float On, which has grown into the "largest float center on the west coast." He and his partners also started Portland’s annual Float Conference, and published a book, Artwork from the Void, with artists documenting their float experiences. Chris has been described as the “Real Deal” for having done “more floating than anyone living or dead,” and is now designing tanks to enhance meditation. He will be joined by two fellow float advocates — “Float Fairy” Peter Mohr who began purchasing floats as gifts for friends when he experienced it dissolving his PTSD, and “Float Wizard” Jordan Lamp, who is regarded as a fountain of float facts and figures.  (Not to miss! A number of gift floats will be offered as part of KBOO's Pledge Drive.)
