Yankton Sioux/Dine' writer and activist Keeler joins host Paul Roland

Jacqueline Keeler lives in the Portland area and is co-founder of Eradicating Native Mascotry, a group which works to eliminate offensive Native sports mascots and other degrading cultural appropriations.

She has written on a wide range of issues of concern to Indigenous people in the United States and beyond. She recently wrote this about the growing movement against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL):

Keeler contributed an essay to  Red Rock Testimony: Three Generations of Writers Speak on Behalf of Utah’s Public Lands,  a collection of essays by 34 writers, including Gary Nabhan, Kathleen Dean Moore, and former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt. Two copies of this very limited (just 1500 copies) addition will be available during the show for a contribution to the station.

She also edited EDGE OF MORNING: Native Voices Speak for the Bears Ears, due out early next year, also on the non-profit Torrey House Press. Two special advance copies (available in December) also will be offered for a contribution.
