Dmae features Hedda, a world premiere dance piece choreographed by Sarah Slipper, Artistic Director, NW Dance Project. She'll be joined by dancer Andrea Parson who performs the title role of Hedda, based on the character in Ibsen's classic play Hedda Gabler. We'll also find out about the second featured world premiere Flamingo 37 by Cayetano Soto, Resident Choreographer of Ballet BC.

Hedda - World Premiere – Sarah Slipper, Artistic Director, NW Dance Project
NW Dance Project’s founding Artistic Director furthers her examination of strong and unconventional female characters and related storylines, this time turning her attention to the iconic 19th century Henrik Isben (Norway) play, Hedda Gabler a classic of realism and world drama. Hedda is a full- length piece (appx. 45 minutes) with an original score from noted dance composer Owen Belton and innovative sets from Spanish designer Luis Crespo.
Flamingo 37 - World Premiere – Cayetano Soto, Resident Choreographer, Ballet BC
NW Dance Project was the first company in the country to commission works from Spanish choreographer whose career in his decade’s absence from our company of award-winning dancers has skyrocketed, found him creating around the world, and securing him the position of Resident Choreographer of Ballet BC. His new 20-minute world premiere for NW Dance Project will be a whimsical full-company work with creative staging, music from “the lounge era, and costumes consisting of pink kilts and tops.
