Dmae talks with Vin Shambry, a nationally recognized actor, director, singer and storyteller. We'll find out more about his career and about his recent project directing Othello: The Remix at Portland Actors Conservatory where he also works as an instructor. The show is an imaginative reworking of William Shakespeare's classic play that transforms the protagonist into a rising hip-hop star.

Chicago-based The Q Brothers' Othello: The Remix was commissioned for the Globe Theatre as part of the Cultural Olympiad and as part of the World Shakespeare Festival in 2012. Following its debut, it then toured Edinburgh, Germany, South Korea, and Chicago. Othello: The Remix is the Q Brothers’ third hip-hop translation of the Bard’s work and marks their return to New York following the hit production of The Bomb-itty of Errors.

Vin Shambry grew up in Portland and after getting a degree in musical theater, he performed on Broadway and in several national tours before moving back to the rose city.in Shambry is a nationally recognized actor, singer, and storyteller. He is based out of Portland, OR where he is a Resident Artist at Artists Repertory Theatre where he has performed in (I Am Still) the Duchess of Malfi , Superior Donuts for which he won a 2011 Portland Drammy Award for lead actor, The Liar, We Are Proud To Present... and numerous other shows. Locally, he has won a couple Drammy awards for his acting. In his day jobs, Vin works with youth as an acting coach, choreographer, and director. He is also a dedicated Blazer fan and a new dad.
