Recent history of black oral music (1995 to present) betrays the evolution and convergence of story telling and social movement(s) historically held (Reconstruction to the 1980s), and told through a communal lens.

Sadly, a tradition that has witnessed the rise of materialism, and dependence on visual representations of sex, drugs and money, encouraged by a Hollywood-based music industry bent on debauchery.

Tune in for an closer examination of how the music lost its moral compass, and the possibility for resurrection and redemption. Musicologist Royal Harris at 3pm.

And...

Supper clubs and night spots that prominently feature black orientated bands and artists  close at a higher rate. Fewer clubs that remain open provide access to black musicians and groups. This business and cultural trend is explored in a conversation with
one club owner with local and Cambodian roots that provide access to live black-oriented music. (4pm)
