Walt Curtis from KBOO's The Talking Earth, reads this excerpt from Jack London's book The Road. In which, London talks about hobo lore, living outside of society, and his own experiences as a hobo at the end of the 19th Century.

Back in April of 2009, we had also decided to dedicate this story to the memory and music of singer and poet Utah Phillips, by using a few of his ballads about railroads and hobos, as dramatic counterpoint to this story about railroads and hobos by Jack London.  "One of the few American writers who really knew how to write" - H. L. Menckin
