Braunwynn Franklin, Her Journey to Recovery

Host Karen James speaks with Braunwynn Franklin, a Peer Support Specialist with a history of mental illness.  She served 10 years in a Michigan prison where she was mandated to treatment.  When she realized the prison could not provide her with the treatment she felt she needed, she began to work toward her own recovery thru self-awareness and by unlearning those beliefs and behaviors that led her to prison. Braunwynn now works with NAMI Multnomah and is a consultant/advocate with Black Woman’s 2020, a group that advocates and supports Black Women, Mental Health Recipients and Prisoners.
