Coronavirus Relief funding for small business

Many small businesses are closed here in Portland during the COVID-19 pandemic. And, without paying customers, they’re struggling to stay afloat.

That list includes one of our favorite small businesses, Rose City Book Pub, which opened in November 2018 with the original, and very Portland, idea of bringing together books and beer. The Pub features a collection of used books for sale, along with food, wine, cocktails, and a taplist of mostly Northwest beers. And they’ve hosted regular events such as readings, live music, book clubs, fundraisers, and study groups.

The Pub recently secured funding from several Coronavirus Relief initiatives for small businesses, including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), and the CARES Act.

To find out more, and hopefully help other small business owners in the same fix, we talked with Elise Schumock, owner of Rose City Book Pub.

You can learn more about Coronavirus Relief options for small businesses on the U.S. Small Business Administration website.
