Oneonta Gorge after Eagle Creek Fire

In the aftermath of massive wildfires that burned across much of Western Oregon last summer, an inevitable slew of post-fire logging proposals threaten to clearcut over 10,000 acres of fire-impacted federal lands along the iconic McKenzie and North Umpqua rivers.

On this special International Women’s Day edition of Locus Focus, we talk about the need to protect burned forests, not destroy them, with Samantha Krop, a community organizer working at the intersection of forests defense, climate justice and feminism.

To find out how to get involved in stopping post-fire logging and developing policies to protect our forest you can contact Samantha at sam@forestwaters.org.
