International Women's Day (March 8th) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday.
The first International Women's Day event was run in 1911, based on suffragettes campaigning for women's right to vote. International Women's Day honors the work of the suffragettes and feminists, celebrates Women's success, and reminds of inequities that still to be addressed.
KBOO is celebrating International Women's Day as part of our All Thrills No Frills special programming campaign by bringing you the Women's History Month Series! Tune in Fridays in March from 6-7pm for this three part special!
