Portland City Council faced significant public outcry at the announcement of their proposed "camping ban" ordinance. The ordinance does much more than that, restricting people from camping between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and restricting where people can camp, among other things. It enlists Portland Police to proactively enforce the ban, warning, then ticketing, then arresting people who appear to be violating the law. As of June 7th, the ordinance passed.
