This episode of OFK attempts to explore the history of Japanese underground music, largely centered around the pioneering and distinctly intense hardcore punk scene and some of its offshoots like thrash, grind and screamy, chaotic HC. Of course, a few innovative prog weirdos and noise rock thugs are represented, as well as Japan's more notable (and awesome) death metal bands. There's so much to explore, this will likely be a part one, as I could not even delve into the infamous and inventive harsh noise scene or other institutions like the Boredoms.
