Today’s program is dedicated to the memory of Diane Karl, who did in December 2024.
Diane brought so much joy to our world during the 27 years she hosted the Early Morning Gumbo program every Tuesday morning on KBOO radio in Portland, OR.
She had a magical gift for taking us on musical train rides that evoked the American South and West, taking us to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, marching with us and Martin Luther King in Selma, Washington DC, and the streets of Portland, and giving us hope and inspiration in difficult times, all through the music she played every Tuesday.
After a musical tribute to the late Peter Yarrow, the rest of the program will feature music from a small sample of the wide range of artists that Diane loved and featured on Early Morning Gumbo.
