On today's episode, we welcome Mo Daviau, author of the new novel Epic and Lovely, from West Virginia University Press. Mo’s debut novel Every Anxious Wave was a finalist for the 2017 Oregon Book Award. She’s also a solo performer, having appeared at storytelling shows such as Bedpost Confessions and The Soundtrack Series. A graduate of Smith College and the Helen Zell Writers’ Program at the University of Michigan, Mo now lives here in Portland, where she works as a bookseller. And she was a deejay on college radio, which I can’t wait to talk to her about.
2025 Oregon Book Award winner Kimberly King Parsons calls Epic and Lovely "full of tenderness, dark humor, and aching vulnerability. Mo Daviau has written a stunning novel that asks how we choose to be remembered when our stories reach their inevitable conclusion. The book is a meditation on inheritance—both genetic and emotional—that deftly explores what it means to leave behind a legacy when time is running out."
Mo will be launching the new book, in conversation with Tracy Manaster, at Annie Bloom’s Books in Multnomah Village on Thursday, September 4th at 7pm.
