The Feb. 27th Rally attempts to up the ante in negotiations; the threat of a strike is discussed.
The teachers at Portland State University face a possible strike by early April, after declaring impasse in their negotiations with the university administration last week.
Thursday Feb. 27, over 600 P.S.U. students walked out of their classes to support the Portland State chapter of the American Association of University Professors, who held a rally on the P.S.U. Park Blocks at noon. The teachers’ union has been bargaining with the P.S.U. administration for a new contract for 11 months.
The A.A.U.P - PSU also filed an unfair labor practice charge with the Oregon Employment Relations Board.
The two sides continue to negotiate.
