OCCUPY THE POST OFFICE & OCCUPY COLOMBIA

The Rural Organizing Project directed statewide Occupy the Post Office protests at dozens of Oregon post offices last Monday. Apalled that over 40 post offices in Oregon are in danger of being permanently closed next year, ROP joined postal worker unions and postal customers in demonstrating support for one of America's most valued and trusted institutions. Working America has also joined the campaign to Save America's Postal Service. Retired letter carrier Jamie Partridge co-hosts.

In the second half of the show, co-host John Walsh shares interviews from his recent trip to Colombia. GM assembly workers in Colombia suffer occupational disabilities resulting from outdated equipment and production methods, then the company forces them out of their jobs. The workers and their families fight back by occupying a spot right across the street from the US embassy. In November they spoke with a Witness for Peace delegation about their struggle for justice.
