Bio: Dr. Maresca has spent most of her career working in rural, reservation, or underserved urban American Indian communities. At the Snoqualmie Clinic, she maintains a clinic medicinal herb garden with the permission of their elders. For twenty-seven years, her training and clinical practice has blended both Native plant medicine work with Western approaches to health. She is a clinical associate professor at University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, and is on faculty at Seattle Indian Health Board’s family medicine residency training program.
She is a long-time member and former president of the Association of American Indian Physicians, and has presented a variety of plant medicine workshops at regional, national, and international forums. When not teaching or taking care of people, she is outside tending her own garden, seed saving, going on plant salvages, making plant medicine, growing traditional tobacco, and restoring her property to include more native plants.
