Calvin Trillin on his book "Dogfight: The 2012 Presidential Campaign in Verse"

Host Justin Miller interviews Calvin Trillin, The Nation's "deadline poet." He has been acclaimed in fields of writing that are remarkably diverse. As someone who has published solidly reported pieces in The New Yorker for forty years, he has been called "perhaps the finest reporter in America." His wry commentary on the American scene and his books chronicling his adventures as a "happy eater" have earned him renown as "a classic American humorist."

Trillin discusses his latest book, "Dogfight: The 2012 Presidential Campaign in Verse," a narrative poem interrupted regularly by other poems and occasionally by what the author calls a pause for prose  With the same barbed wit he displayed in the bestsellers "Deciding the Next Decider, Obliviously On He Sails," and "A Heckuva Job," America’s deadline poet trains his sights on the Tea Party. There is an ode to Michele Bachmann, sung to the tune of a Beatles classic and passages on the exit of candidates like Herman Cain and Rick Santorum.

Tune in for a fun hour of poetry and story-telling.
