Giant walnut tree axed at new Beaverton high school - interview with Maureen Wheeler
The newest high school in the Beaverton School District – South Cooper Mountain – is currently under construction, with plans to open in September 2017.

The development plans called for keeping the giant walnut tree at the edge of the site, on the corner of Southwest 175th Avenue and Scholls Ferry Road.

But as of the past week, the 80-year-old tree is no longer there.

We spoke to Beaverton School District spokesperson, Maureen Wheeler, to find out why the tree was removed without prior public notice.
