Cartoonist Becky Hawkins teams up with the Community Alliance of Tenants and Know Your City to produce an informational comic for renters
In this encore episode from March 2015, we learn about renters' rights with the help of cartoonist Becky Hawkins and the late Justin Buri, onetime Executive Director of Portland's Community Alliance of Tenants.
When local educational group Know Your City needed a medium for informing renters about their legal rights, they looked to CAT and their committee of local tenants and advisors for help. The comic that resulted, Know Your Rights: Don’t Get Evicted, was overseen by Justin, illustrated by Becky, and premiered at a Comics Release Party that featured true stories from renters who have stood up for their right to safe and secure housing.
