Andrew Butz is a Portland State University graduate student in Sociology who is researching his dissertation on a timely subject—the way the media treats protest events. He is comparing newspaper coverage of two signal events in recent American political life: Occupy Wall Street (and Occupy Portland) and the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge take-over.

In this interview, aired live on November 6, 2017, he discusses his research, as well as how he plans to fund that research and a future book in the face of university fees: by using Kickstarter. You can find his Kickstarter page HERE--the last day to donate is November 12th. The page also features a video further explaining the project.
