The shockwaves are still being felt throughout the Portland area from a massive immigration raid yesterday, in which over 150 workers at the Del Monte fruit company were swept up for lacking work permits. Last night a meeting was held at St. Andrew’s church in northeast Portland to help relatives of those affected by the raids to figure out what to do next. The relatives of workers who were swept up have been afraid to return home since the raid, due to sweeps of their homes by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, officers. Chris Ferlazzo of Jobs with Justice spoke to KBOO about the community’s response to yesterday’s raids…
