Oregon peace activist Betsy Lamb of Redmond is being held in an Arizona jail, after being deemed "a flight risk and danger to the community." Lamb, a retired Catholic lay teacher, and Franciscan Father Jerry Zawada were arrested while attempting to enter Ft. Huachuca (wah-CHOOK-ah), home of a government-run Interrogation Training School. They are to remain in custody until their trial, currently set for February fourth. Lamb is one of the Code Pink women who staged a 12-hour sit-in in Representative Greg Walden's office in Bend to demand that he stop supporting the war in Iraq. And on September 4, she was arrested for disorderly conduct as part of a die-in, also at Walden's office. More information on Lamb and Zawada's situation can be found at TortureOnTrial.org.
