Much of what is said about responding to climate change and the coming climate crisis puts the responsibility on the consumer, on the individual. We're told to buy fluorescent light bulbs, or hybrid cars, or recycled paper, or other products - and that's supposed to somehow save us from massive species extinction. Or we hear about 'carbon trading', a system that will allow the largest polluters to keep polluting at the same level.Neither the current administration, nor any of the candidates, have put forward a plan that really recognizes the seriousness of the situation we're in. At the current rate of climate change, we will face massive species extinction - including the human species - within decades. The UN Commission on Climate Change has recognized this, the scientific community worldwide has a consensus that this is a reality, yet the US economy continues rushing forward like a steamroller toward this certain death.But despite the resistance of government and industry, there are people and groups who are developing a real plan that can address and reverse the trend of global climate change.
