In an article published Monday, in "Nature Climate Change," a new study done at the University of Washington shows a 90 percent chance that the average global temperature by 2100 will have increased by 5.8 degrees Fahrenheit. This does not meet the target goal of a 1 to 1.5 degree change set in the 2016 Paris Agreement. Professor Raftery explains how aiming for a 2 degree temperature change is an attainable goal is if major efforts and changes are made in the next century.
Also today, the White House today announced that Anthony Scaramucci has been removed from his position as Director of Communications. This came right after John Kelly, former Homeland Security Secretary, was sworn in as White House Chief of Staff. Kelly is replacing the former GOP chairman, Reinhold Preibus. This move is seen as a way for order to be brought to the White House in its current situation. There has been no word yet on a replacement for position of Communications director.
The Heat Wave warning issued is expected to stay in effect from noon on Tuesday until 11 PM of this Friday. Record high temperatures are expected to be 100 degrees on Tuesday and may raise to 107 degrees on Thursday. Those without access to air conditioning, those working outdoors for prolonged periods of time, and the elderly are especially at risk. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in air conditioned or shaded areas. The Administration reminds to drink plenty of water, wear loose fitting clothing, and to keep strenuous activities early in the day or late in the evening.
