Portland city council pro immigrant measure
The Portland City Council passed an ordinance this morning challenging the Arizona immigration law SB 1070, which allows for the racial profiling of immigrants.
Although the Portland ordinance is not as strongly worded as similar rules passed in Seattle and Los Angeles, it does challenge the use of racial profiling in the Arizona law.
The ordinance does not call for a boycott of Arizona, as other cities have done, saying that state and federal law make such a boycott impossible.
