Join host Kurt Liebezeit for a celebration of Canadian folk music on Canada Day, the day that our northern neighbors celebrate the legal confederation of separate provinces into the Commonwealth that we now know as Canada. Canada is a land rich in natural resources, and her traditional songs reflect the long heritage of a people that fished the oceans, farmed the prairies, dug out the minerals, and laid railroad track across the continent. Today's program draws heavily on historical field recordings from the venerable Folkways record label, but it also includes selections from well known Canadian songwriters like Ian & Sylvia, Joni Mitchell, and Gordon Lightfoot.
